Addressing the Gap of Gender-based Violence, update

  • Restorative Justice Officers were assigned to each parish and has started mobilizing participants from St. Mary, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Ann and Trelawny.
  • Partnership meetings were held in October and November 2021 with the Ministry of Justice regarding the mobilization of participants for the first cohort of the programme.
  • A partnership meeting (November) held with the Jamaica Mental Health Advocacy Network to discuss the roll out of the Individual Intervention Plan (Bio-psychosocial assessment), Individual Counselling Sessions, Pre-Discharge Assessment and Follow-up Sessions for each participant of the programme.
  • The Jamaica Constabulary Force (St. Mary) is assisting with the mobilization of participants in St. Mary.
  • At the IDEVAW 2021 Public Forum, the REFOCUS Perpetrators Programme, which is supported by the Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO,  was introduced to the general public by the Honourable Olivia Grange
